About the event

Join us for an educational and exciting field trip to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a city rich in history, innovation, and natural beauty! Known as the "Secret City" during World War II, Oak Ridge was a central site for the Manhattan Project (atomic bomb development) and remains a hub for scientific research and discovery. THIS EVENT IS FOR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES ENROLLED IN THE CURVE WEEKLY CLASSES ONLY.


We will start our day with the Department of Energy's Official Bus Tour. The bus departs at 9 AM and will take us to...

  • K-25 History Center: Tour visitors learn about the gaseous diffusion process that enriched uranium (later sent to Y-12 for further enrichment) to power the first atomic bomb.

  • Guests will visit the Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Center for Computational Sciences for an introduction to the world’s fastest super computer, Frontier. What that means? How fast is fast and why is…
